Unity through The Game Of Cricket

KINRARA: The just concluded Kinrara Cricket Carnival here at the KInrara Academy involving eight schools have given the opportunity for the students to communicate and create a friendship value among themselves. They seemed to be united and developed a sense of goodwill and harmonious despite the fact that they want to learn more about the game of cricket.
The two-day carnival has given the right platform to introduce the sport to the schools concerned. Not only boys are involved as there were quite a number of girls too at the carnival. It is a unity-like carnival as the players from all walks of life mingled and exchanged notes well with each other even though they were playing against each other.
The players also created a number of splendid moral values and at the same developed recognized talents among some of them.
There were 22 teams from 6 schools playing in the eight-a-side contest with a soft ball being used. It was indeed fun cricket for the 230 boys and girls.
MCA is promoting fun cricket in the Petaling District and the schools that participated in the two-day carnival included SMK Puchong Jaya A, Puchong, SMK Puchong Jaya B, SJK(T) Ladang Kinrara, Puchong, SMK Sesksyen 4, Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, SMK Seyksyen 1, Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, SMK Seksyen 3, Bandar Kinrara, Puchong
We sincerely thank Milo and Sportsunite who were the two major sponsors.Iclick here for picsI

40th SAUDARA CUP 2009
STALEMATE BUT MALAYSIA TAKES HONOUR IN YET ANOTHER DRAWN MATCH
The three-day Annual Cricket Saudara Cup between Malaysia and Singapore petered out to another draw after rain intervened on the third and final day of the match here at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Taman Mutiara Rini. Skudai, Johor Bahru.
On the first day, host Malaysia won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket that had a reasonable hard surface suited for batting. The home batsmen however faltered early on losing wickets at regular intervals to some tight bowling from the opponents. At one stage the home team looked precariously placed at 110 runs for the lost of five wickets on the scoreboard.
However an entertaining partnership of 176 runs between Darvin Muralitharan and former national skipper Suresh Navaratnam steadied the ship. Both Darvin (105) and Suresh (136) hit centuries. Suresh's innings was an indication of his return to batting form after a run of low scores in the previous international matches.
Malaysian captain Suhan Kumar Alagaratnam, Mohd Shazrul Ezat and Mohd Sharul Nizam chipped in with 21, 22 not out and 14 not out in Malaysia's total of 358 runs for 9 wickets at the end of the allotted 75 overs.
Singapore's opening bowler Pramodh Raja captured 4 wickets giving away 53 runs while spinner Dharmichand Mulewa had figures of 3 wickets for 122 runs.
In reply the visitors could only manage a total of 165 runs all out in 55.4 overs. Dharmichand Mulewa top scored with 74 runs while Pramodh Raja hit a breezy 58 runs.
Ezrafiq Abdul Aziz returning to the national scene after missing out during the last one-day series, took 3 wickets for 51 runs. Suresh Navaratnam had 2 wickets giving away 51 runs too.
Singapore was asked to follow-on and the batsmen put up a much better batting display.
Anish Param scored 61 with Christoper Janik and Pramodh Raja chipping in with 36 and 32 runs respectively. Chandrashekar remained unbeaten on 68 runs when the heavens opened up to wash out and put an end to the match.
Singapore's total stood at 226 runs for 6 wickets off 96 overs with a lead of only 33 runs and four wickets in hand. Ezrafiq Abdul Aziz again bowled well to capture 4 wickets for 71 runs. Mohd Sharul Nizam and Suresh Navaratnam had a wicket each giving away 31 and 55 runs respectively.
Nevertheless the home team took the overall top honours and if not for the rain, things might have been different. Perhaps a win was there for the taking. Tough luck boys !!! ImoreI

4th Labuan Sixes Cricket Carnival (LACA) on 19th July 2009
Awan Cricket Club emerge champions in Labuan sixes!
First timers to the sixes, Awan Cricket Club Kuala Lumpur (Awan CC) proved too great for its competition when it played through all challengers and emerged the new champions in the recent completed annual carnival on Sunday. This year, held in conjunction with the Labuan Silver Jubilee celebrations, 8 teams put up their best sides to outwit each other. Other teams participating were LACA's Alpha, Beta and Gamma, MSSWPL, Tawau Teachers CC, Miri CC and Interior CC Sabah.
By the luck of the draw, on the first round of matches, Labuan's top rated team LACA Beta had to face off Interior Sabah CC, whom were champions from last year. Set to be a repeat final of 2008 Champions division, it was now to be one teams sending to the losers pool Plate division. Sabah chasing 34 runs sent Labuan Beta packing with 35 runs off 20 balls. Beta now fated only for the Plate section, were favourites to clinch that consolation and eventually they did by ousting Miri Cricket Club. Beta batted in 66 runs for 2 in 5 overs. Akram Khan powered 5 sixes to his 42 runs total and Fais Muhammad supplied with 18 runs . Miri however, relied on their opener Ameen Ullah but was caught early in the third over with 12 runs keeping Miri way off their target.
In the Champions final, Awan CC took on Interior Sabah. Awan CC looked solid with Atif Nemat and Muhammad Daniel charging to 75 runs. The Sabah team just could not match the rivals of the day. Struggling to knock up the runs, Sabah had 24 runs for 4 by the end.
